Sugar loaf Cabbage is a lovely quick growing cabbage dating back to 1655 with the “sugar loaf” shape. In older times sugar was sold on cone shapes called loaves, this cabbage takes its name from the similar shape. Loves improved soil and will do well in the cooler spring and autumn months. It has an excellent mild flavor, that is sweeter than some other cabbage types; and grows quite large. This variety is fantastic to cook with and great raw in salads and coleslaw.

Sugar loaf Cabbage is best as a cool weather crop. It is frost-tolerant but not to extremes of heat, which causes the heads to split.
