OUTSTANDING QUALITIES
- Proven Reliability
- Very High Quality Heads
- Medium Beads Of Very Good Quality
- High Yield Potential
Marathon is regarded as an industry standard and is a leading variety worldwide. Marathon is a medium to late maturing variety with maturity of about 90 – 100 days after transplant. Produces excellent quality heads in cold weather due to its good cold tolerance and is highly recommended for cool season harvest. Marathon is a vigorous and large plant. Heads are large and high domed with small beads of a dark blue-green colour. Bead quality is affected negatively by warm weather. The compactness of Marathon's heads is excellent as is the field holding ability with heads holding very well even if harvesting is delayed. Marathon has a very high yield potential for both bulk packaging and pre–pack growers but produces side shoots. Marathon has been observed to resist Downy mildew (Pb) under conditions normally conducive to disease development. Excellent adaptability, reliability, quality and high yields have made Marathon an industry standard and one of the most popular varieties for cool season harvesting.
