SPECIAL VARIETAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Never over irrigate Salamanca after sowing, whether in seedling trays or direct planting. Soil should only be moist until the seed has germinated.
  • Salamanca is from a tropical origin and prefers warmer climates. Low temperatures (3 – 5°C) can cause damage to young plants
  • Germination medium should be above 10°C and never be allowed to dry out. Flower and pod abscission can occur if the temperature drops to 2 – 3°C or increases to 30 – 32°C, accompanied by low water levels
