OUTSTANDING QUALITIES
- Compact plants with good leaf cover
- Large blocky fruit
- High resistance to tmv, cmv and pvy
- Ideal for open field production
Excellence is a widely adapted, early, hybrid blocky pepper with a compact growth habit and good leaf cover. The fruit are large, strongly four lobed, blocky, show very little purpling and ripen to a uniform glossy red. Fruit set is concentrated, resulting in high first pick yields. Excellence has high resistance to Tobacco mosaic (TMV), Cucumber mosaic (CMV) and Potato Y (PVY). Excellence is recommended for open field production, but can also be trellised using the “Spanish” method under protection.
SPECIAL VARIETAL REQUIREMENTS
- As fruit set is concentrated, we suggest that flowers of the 1st and 2nd bottom splits are removed to allow the plant to maintain a good balance between leaf cover, fruit load and roots
